There can never be an end to organized crime. People will always commit crimes and there will always be people organizing to do so.

I think we have pretty much seen the end of the Mafia and it was known for years. There will always be something organized to take its place though (biker gangs, etc)

Can there be: yes. Will there be: Not as long as there's greed. They certainly aren't extinct, they just prefer to take a low profile in the US. They're a part of many industries in the larger cities, especially New York. There they still have their fingers in a lot of pies. Overseas, they're a little more brash in their activities.

The chance of taht happening is as big as religions being dropped totaly out of sociaty.

yes, mafias aka underground societies exist for 1 reason and 1 reason only, prohibition. if christian morales are allowed to make laws mafia's will thrive. if handguns are banned an underground handgun blackmarket springs up. if drugs or alcohol is banned an underground market pops up. if sex is banned than we are all criminals. i'm a criminal and proud of it!
