  • It depends on the age of the car. Obviously the newer the car, the less maintenance. Between brakes, tires, oil changes, other miscellaneous things, you should probably plan on $40 to $50 per month for a newer car. $70 to $100 for an older car. (You might not spend all of that money in each month. You may have a month or two where you spend nothing on maintenance. But you might have one month where you need brakes and tires, and it will cost you $500, which comes to $41 per month if you stretch it out over the year.)
