Chess players play chess whereas checkers players play checkers. I think that chess is a more complicated game, but neither of them take as much skill as go takes. It is one of the board games that computers have not been able to beat the best humans at.

The only difference is that chess has more legal moves to consider. If chess didn't exist (horrible thought!) I'd probably be a checkers player.

Chess assigns levels of power to the peices, which start off the game on their own locational square. Each have seperate rules uninto themselves, that determine how they must manourvor around the board. Checkers has none of these applications, except for the two colors that seperate the ownership of the peices.
