  • First, are you wearing your glasses? Second, if the oil is not visibe, you are low or out. Add oil till you see it make the mark.
  • ...or your oil is too high, and you're looking at clear oil or black aged oil, so the 'oil line' is above the sight glass, and therefore isn't visible in the sight glass... Or the sight glass is dirty... try cleaning it with a damp soft cloth. The best 'measurements' are made w/ the bike on its center stand, after warming up, and then sitting still for 5 - 10 minutes. If you REALLY don't see anything after cleaning the glass, try changing the oil... then watch as you add one quart at a time.
  • Have some one else lean the bike over slowly until you see oil line in the glass, so you will know what to look for. More than likely you have it overfull, over the glass, and the oil is completely black and dirty. When fresh you can see through it and tell when its overfull.
