Ah, but they do answer it. The point (sorry) is that points on AB are meaningless if the answers don't help someone... If you're here to get points, you're playing a game. MOST people are NOT here to "make points", but to ask and answer questions... They enjoy the "social" aspect of the site much more than the "points" aspect, and feel that if you are here for the points, you probably have come to the wrong place. Yes, we all enjoy raising up in levels, and DO enjoy getting points for our questions and answers, since they show that people have, supposedly, actually read the answer. Most of us prefer comments, as that REALLY shows that someone read our answer. Are the points more of a popularity contest? Yes. The most popular answer is supposed to rise to the top of the answers within a question. Do people cheat that? Yes... Of course they do. BUT, THEY are the ones trying for points, instead of camaraderie. Of course, if you believe all those answers are "blah, blah, blah", then that means, to me, you are here for points, and not to help AB be the best Q&A site out in Internet-land.

If you look at most of those answers, they were answers to another question that was merged with the original. They answer the question they were meant for just fine.

When Q's are merged, they often times don't make any sense together. You'll have to ask AB admins about that. Other times, people either don't understand the Q or either they just don't make much sense, period. We get all kinds here.
