  • This question reminds me of the gay Old Navy commercials.
  • Catch 22. LAYERED is still very "IN" but not as you've described it. IT really depends upon the absolute "look and personality" you are trying to create. Polo (the brand) is a bit on the OUT with people who know the trash Ralph has talked about Blacks, although more Black and elderly Jewish men are the prime purchasers of Polo brand than any other "groups." Off brands, or Alternative Headliners, such as Timberland, are more "IN," right now. For a casual look, you might pair jeans with a long sleeved Tee, layered with a polo, the collar UP is a typical "bad boy" image, and if you did it, you might as well add the leather coat, (bomber style or more chic...also with the collar pulled up.) For a more Business Casual look...do not turn up the collar...ever and with that you can layer the sweater over your polo...but leave the collar UNDER the neck line of the sweater. A classic Cord (wide welt) Jacket would be your best option for this. With either matching cord pants, or classic chinos.
  • Yes. I double- and triple-layer polos, but not with the collars up. I turn them down and arrange them so that the edges of the one/two collar(s) underneath are visible. I love that look. I love polos and wear them all the time - I have a huge collection of polos.
  • To achieve a true d-bag look, add the third popped collar. While you're at it, make sure you compliment triple-popped collars with a baseball hat, cocked slightly to one side (use K-Fed for a reference). Work on your peace sign, AKA chunking deuce, and try to find a vintage arm-band. A hemp bracelet is also a must, as is a self-absorbed narcissistic smirk. Stock your car's trunk with extra Gatorade and vodka, if the high school parties you crash run out of Heineken. Finally, the muscle tee with clever phrases will top it all off, because hey, you're a funny guy, right?
