How do men react when they hear a woman has been raped? Do most laugh or feel angry?

Most men are angry and disgusted. I've never known of any man who laughed in real life.

Having been a man my entire life, I cannot imagine the pain a women who has been raped is going through. I think most men hate rapists as much as most women hate rapists. As far as how I would react to a woman who told me that she was raped, it would be much the same as when other horrible things happen to someone, please remember and believe that it is not your fault.

Id kill someone if they did that to a family or friend. Im not just saying that. No....I would kill someone.

Both responses are patriarchal and offensive. Men laugh at rape because they have contempt for women; but they also get angry because they have contempt for women. Women in a patriarchy are helpless China dolls which need to be coddles and protected from harm, the subtext being that women are too weak to do it themselves.

I'm a man and it has never even crossed my mind to laugh about a woman being raped. I wouldn't wish that sort of thing on any woman. Most men I know feel the same way.

Personally I get pissed off, not towards the female that was raped, she was just an innocent victim. I get the urge to crush the despicable predator. If a guy laughed about it near me I'd want to crush him too.

A person who laughs, needs psychological assistance. Rape is serious. Rape is an emotional killer for women. Rape is no laughing matter.

There is a reason why rapists do not get a good treatment in prison from other prisoners.

no men do not laugh about a woman who has been raped,all would love to get there hands on a rapist and let us punish him(street justice)and in jail they will be raped over and over and over.my heart goes out to rape survivors.

1) Most men that I know would feel sad and angry if they hear from a real rape. 2) Many men would also find most jokes, or even all jokes about rape absolutely not funny. But many men (and women) could also laugh over a joke involving rape. The reality is that such jokes *are* told. Also about men being raped. And the reality is also that women (and men) *are* raped.

it's not something that can make no one laugh or make them angry (unless its your daughter or wife etc.... but as a stranger it do make you sad and gives you a reminder it is an ugly world.
