I think the authorities are more interested in catching the ones who supplied them with the alcohol in the first place. The jails are already so overcrowded that they are letting thieves and drug dealers out on the street, so there would be a long line, with underage drinkers at the end, if that were the case.

The penalty of breaking the law is jail, but like everyone else said, the jail are getting over crowded, so i think some strict probation might help deter this problem.

Nope, Jail's too expensive. They should be forced to see a shrink and given electro-shock therapy until they puke.

If we do that, we might as well put barbed wire around the U.S. and declare the whole place a prison. It would be cheaper and just as effective. I personally can't think of ANY kid I've known of who didn't drink before he/she came of age. I certainly did.

The legal age to drink in the UK is 18, so no. Anyway jail is for serious crime, not a underage can of beer :-)

No. If that happened allot of people would be in jail. If you were to go to jail they should be put in the drunk tank till they sobered up but they don't deserve much more then that.

No. The law should be changed to bring the legal limit down to 18. In my opinion, if you're old enough to vote, you're old enough to drink.

Not just for drinking. DWI, absolutely. Some kid getting caught by the cops drinking a beer should get community service.

Why should they? It's not illegal to drink alcohol at any age in most states. Just illegal to sell it to a minor.

hahahaha that's funny. Do you know how overcrowded the jails would be if they actually did that? If they enstated a law like that, they would have to throw people in jail for parking violations and any other misdemeanor that requires a fine payment as well. Almost every teenager out there drinks before they are of age, it's what teenagers do!
