ANSWERS: 5
  • Why would that be a good thing? Each person decides for themselves who they want to give points to and no one should have the right to change that. Besides, it's best to keep the rating system as simple as possible to make it easier on everyone.
  • I don't know who is proposing this, but I think the rating system is fine the way it is, even though it is is not and never would be "perfect."
  • I would rather you can award a person any number of points 1-5 based on how well you liked their answer. If you did not like their answer you would give them a 1. If you really liked their answer you would give them a 5. And I guess we could keep a one point downrate so if you found someone's answer truly offensive or just really was not helpful you could give them a -1. So in other words instead of having a helpful and not helpful box to click on and people get points from you depending on what level you are, you get to choose how many points you want that person to have. They could develop the system so that as you go up levels you have more points to give. But not helpfuls should always be only worth a -1.
  • i don't think there is a problem with the ratings. It's the stupid trolls that is the problem, not the points system. if someone disagrees strongly with a question or answer, it is there right to downrate. if it is an answer they should always leave a comment why they disagree. i don't think it needs to be changed, only if you give a negative, a comment has to be left would be better.
  • I have actually found a flaw with my own question! I am going to argue with myself now. If you preserve the positive points awarded by the question asker based on "possesion" of the question, you would also have to preserve negative points awarded by the question asker (and let's face it, there are people who will down rate any answer that is contrary to their own opinion.)
