  • The Thannhauser Collection is a collection of Modernist Art that is now part of the Guggenheim Museum. It was assembled by the art dealer Justin Thannhauser after his emigration from Europe. He was Jewish and had to flee from the Nazis. During the years 1909 until 1933, the Thanhauser galleries in Munich and Berlin were one of the most renowned and influential galleries of Modern art in Germany. The Thannhauser collection now at the guggenheim Museum consists mainly of French art from Cézanne, Van Gogh to Picasso.
