    If you wish to make archival copies of your DVDs the best software I've found is DVD Shrink 3.2. It is orphan-ware (in that lawsuits forced the writers to abandon it) and there are "plug-ins" available to allow it to remove all copy protection from even the newest DVDs. You also have the option of shrinking a dual layer DVD to a single layer or re-authoring the disc so as to just contain the movie only.
