Checks allow you to have a couple of days float. That's a good thing. Debit cards don't. That's a bad thing.

neither, I am a cash and carry guy, I don't use checks or the atm except in rare instances.

Debit Cards, I only use them when I know what is in my account and it's much safer than the risk of going charge happy with Credit Cards

Checks shouldn't be totally obsolete, but when I have to stand in line at the grocery/department store waiting for somebody to write a check, balance their checkbook, give their license number, etc., I feel like screaming. (I have a low frustration tolerance.)

Debit card. I dont have a checking account and my job pays onto a Visa Debit Card.
