Depends. You may be able to get out of it by paying a fee. You also might be held responsible for paying a certain number of months rent deemed reasonable to give your roommate time to find another roommate. All depends on what's written into the lease. If you know you're only going to be there for three or four months, you're much better off trying to find a place with a month to month tenancy or making an arrangement with a roommate without being on the lease yourself.
