yes, leaving there body to decompose to the elements. It's done in parts of Africa.

i know one that i've heard of for sailors is dumping the body over the side with weight after a small ceremony. i dont think this is a common one in this age, but i believe this is how it used to be done in older years of wooden cross ocean ships. sort of a "man of the sea so he should be part of the sea" type thing
