I think its out there. I find it hard to believe that we are the only signs of intelligence in the whole universe. This age old question has riddled us for eternity, and fueled some of our most important scientific endeavors. Thanks for the question. I hope we can find the answer to this sometime in the next 50 years, so I can see it, or at least read about it.

The universe is so big, and there are so many stars, it is almost inevitable that there will be a lot of intelligent life about. On the other hand, the size of the universe and the limitations of physics mean that we will almost certainly never be able to contact it.
