I think it has something to do with this generation honestly. I am one of those teenagers and it wasn't because of my mom or anything. Some of those are "mistakes" though. Condoms breaking, thinking one can't have a baby due to medical reasons, women forgets to take her pill, etc.

Bush should be proud of one more "mission accomplished"

Birth control parents! "But no, that's against our religion!" Yet an illegitimate child is not? "But isn't birth control encouraging them to have sex?" No stupid, they already know about sex, it's a natural drive. It's the parents fault.

If the media didnt push sex/sex appeal in everything and parents would acctually talk to their kids and teach some morals insead of expecting the school system to do it, there might be less teen pregnancy.

The data seems proportional to other nations. The US has 10x the population of Poland and has about the same number of pregnancies per capita. Poland = 38,130,302(33rd most populated nation) United States = 305,954,00 (3rd most populated nation) China (#1) or India (#2) may never be on the list due either to strict government, culture, or laws.

Well, it might not be as bad as it looks. I mean, it's bad. There's no denying it. But remember that it isn't proportional to the population. You have to accomodate for that. For example, Poland (the second highest) has a population of about 40 million. The US has about 300 million. Multiply Poland's teen pregnancy rate by 7.5 US: 494, 357 Poland: 228, 097.5 America still has a firm lead though.

Glad to see that the abstinence only sex education is paying off. The sad fact is that this generation of kids is less educated about their own bodies than the generations that came before.
-
Once you start looking at the rates per capita, or based on population percentage and median ages, rather than straight numbers you find that while the US does have high numbers we're still looking at some close margins all around.

That is an amazing number, the number of abortions surprised me too. 1,210,880

Must be what they meant by 'no child left behind'? "Just say no" obviously doesn't work for drugs or premariatal sex.
