My maternal grandmother used to sing old Japanese folk songs around the house, and my paternal grandmother old Chinese folk songs. I grew up quite folksy as a result. Lol.

Oh my gosh! They were soooooo many. I'm talking about from gospel music, jazz, blue, R & B, etc. My father, a church pastor, favorite was "Let God Abide"; that's a church song. My mother's fav was "A Change Is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke. Those church songs used to get on my nerves, lol.

My Grandma used to sing "Shine on Harvest Moon", while cooking dinner, as Grandpa would play it on the piano. My mother was always singing, "Barbara Ann" and "Lolly Pop", both songs from the 50's.

I am not sure much singing was going on as I was growing up... But now with my daughter I sing everything... That was how she learned her home telephone number (though a song, I made up) For my pipsqueek... it helped her remember it. Thaks for the question.
