  • Pet Cemetary by Stephen King or any book by him.
  • It, by Stephen King.
  • The Shining did it to me. I spent nights with the light on. As a kid, The Amityville Horror was terrifying. The devil and ghosts and stuff...shiver.
  • The Shining .. Stephen King again. I had to sleep with the lights on at night for a week!
  • *hangs head in embarrassment* Goosebumps, they terrified me when I was younger, and probably still would, given my scariest film ranks as Disney's Beauty and the Beast...
  • To me Pet Semetary was one of the scariest because Stephen King has such a knack for making you feel like you right in the middle of his stories. The movie did not do it justice, it was not scary at all. Scariest short story was Gramma, also by Stephen King.
  • War of the Worlds.
  • One that looks innocuous enough, until you've fallen fast asleep, it's the middle of the night, and it suddenly opens it pages and emits a terrifying wail. OK, you wanted the name of a good scary story, fine fine. Since everyone goes with Stephen King, I'm going to recommend Thomas Harris - Hannibal.
  • Insomnia - Stephen King The Others - James Herbert (this is pretty strong stuff, do not attempt to read it if you are of a nervous disposition, or have heart problems.)
  • Kay Hooper's Out of the Shadows
  • I liked Bec by Darren Shan xx
  • The bible.
  • "The Amityville Horror"
  • The Shining, Pet Semetary, IT, Insomniac, basically anything by Stephen King. All of his books are scary- just in different ways.
  • When I was younger I read a book called "The Mummy, the Will and the Crypt" by John Bellairs, and it actually scared the hell out of me back then. Or you could just read pretty much anything King has ever written...
  • Velocity - Dean Koontz I love Koontz. I love that book. I stayed up all night reading it because I was scared to put it down. (But then again, I scare easily.)
  • Bentley Little has to be one of the best authors, well, ever. I grew tired of Stephen kings lame, drop off endings, except for the book 'the long walk'. I was a dead koontz reader, and I think that the best he put out was door to december, but again, the endings leave something to be desired. Bentley Little, WOW. I have never been one to re-read books, mostly read and trash or pass on, but never re-read. His books though, I read all 15 once and twice and am going on the third time. They really draw you in! Im impatiently awaiting august, when his next book will be released.
  • Another Dean Koontz - Intensity - and yes the Bible, surely one of the most chilling portrayals of a psychopathic, murderous ego ever written.
  • The Shining takes the cake. I couldn't read it while home alone.
  • Dirt by Motley Crue. It will scare you straight. Don't do drugs kids.
