Or do what we do and leave the gas hog parked most days and walk. Ours only runs a few days a week and its our only vehicle. Sometimes you need a big car, but if you move close to work, you don't need it much.

Typical hypocrites. They bank on your ignorance about what they drive. Sometimes they don't realize that they are part of the problem..sometimes they don't even know they're hypocrites. Happy Monday my friend! :0 ((hugs))

For most of the Hummer owners, its too late to have a more economical vehicle. they are still paying for this "gas hog". They already own the worlds worst. Average gas mileage on a Hummer is 6-8 miles per gallon, according to a friend who owns one. If i lived in Atlanta and had family in Seattle, how much would a round trip cost in fuel, in a Hummer at 8 miles per gallon?

Part of the problem for those who own big vehicles is that they are stuck with them. In the current climate and with the expensive gas nobody wants to buy the big vehicle, so if you own one and want to get rid of it and get a smaller vehicle, unless it's completely paid for you are stuck with it. There are also reasons for people having those kinds of vehicles. I own a large SUV. I live in Colorado (normally) and am frequently in the mountains in the snow. Without that SUV I wouldn't be able to travel for most of the winter, it takes a heavy 4WD to get through the snow that we get!

The owners of gas-hogs are too vain and self-righteous to complain about it

My family and I, all drive American made gas hogs. But we don't complain about gas, its just the price we pay for the luxury.

Gasoline/Vehicles is only a drop in the bucket concerning the hypocrisy. Everyone who complains about excessive energy usage, "global warming", corporations, etc. that uses air conditioning (auto or home), buys bottled water, buys canned or frozen goods, uses a computer, uses a dishwasher, watches a television, or purchases any other goods manufactured using carbon based materials is a hypocrite, although the majority don't even realize it. Most people have no idea that about 90% of what they use to make their lives more comfortable is manufactured using the very things they protest vehemently.
