How many drive-in theaters are left in the U.S.?

    A recent article from the Boston Globe, it puts the number of theaters still in operation at 432 nationwide.
    Though this is a far cry from the heyday of the drive-in, there is some good news -- since 1990, 37 drive-in theaters have reopened and 22 new ones were built.
    And last year, the number of drive-in movie screens increased by three.

    Drive ins have become less popular, but the good news is that many have been repaired and reopened. I myself have seen very few, but the numbers show the info.

    well there are only 5 that I know of in the pittsburgh ares (pittsburgh pa.)
    the one near my residence is the dependable (this was well known back in my high school days since the last movie was always a X rated movie);)

    I've seen the same "Globe" article.

    There is a nice one about an hour's drive to the west of my home called the "Starlite Drive In" they show first-run films. The place draws quite a good number of patrons from within the small town and area that it's located
