In England.. all you need is 5 GCSE grades a-c but maths and science are a must.. thats not really too bad! you take your gcse's at 16
No you dont need a college degree to become an airline pilot, you need to complete your high school graduation and then you can join any aviation academy or any aviation engineering college.
You can use a GED instead of a degree - or if you already have a nice rating on your private pilot licenses like an all weather multi-engine retractable with a bunch of hours on it they are likely to wave any "time in school" requirement that particular facility might require.
Basically if you can read and know your math you can be any kind of pilot you like - I've seen it done that way.
