One.

If a chicken and a half lay an egg and a half, a chicken lays an egg. So if a chicken lays an egg in a day and a half, a chicken lays 2/3 of an egg in a day.

How can half of a hen lay half of an egg? Ok whatever. The ratios are consistent with 1 hen laying 1 egg every 1 day, right? So... 12 hens, 12 days. 144 eggs.

How can a hen lay half an egg?
-
6 6 days divided by 1.5 days, multiplied by 1.5 eggs = 6

Here is the correct answer: First, you need to find how many eggs one hen lays in a day. If a hen and a half lay an egg and a half in a day and a half, then one hen lays 2/3 egg a day. So, at the end of the first day, one hen lays 2/3's an egg, and the half hen lays half of that, or 1/3 of an egg, for a total of one egg. After a day and half you have an egg and a half. So, six hens would lay 4 eggs a day. After 6 days you would have 24 eggs.
