Help answer this question below.
Legalise it. Grade it. Sell it by license. Tax it. Sell to adults.
Legalize pot!
make it legal no one's ever died from smokin weed
Oh, just legalize it and stop making criminals out of dumb teenagers.
I would vote to legalize it. The benefits would far outweigh the negatives.
Keep it illegal.
Heck, even if you ARE a proponent of Marijuana, the last thing you would want to do is have Uncle Sam stick their money-grubbing hands into the industry. The cost would go through the roof for you and they would regulate the growing/distribution of is as well as the taxes. So even avid tokers would be detrimentally affected financially.
Legalise it, tax it, and spend that money in our school systems.
Legalize it, regulate it, and tax it.
As for normal cigarettes, ban carcinogens and addictive elements like nicotine, and remove filters altogether.
Imagine the economical growth through hemp and medical uses.
I wish they would legalize it. So many people I am close with do it and it bothers me that they are breaking the law. I'm affraid they are going to get caught and go to jail. Stresses me out. The affects are pretty much the same as alcohol (varying from person to person) so I don't see why they can't just legalize it. Sure we would have to pay taxes on it but it's better than doing something illegal.
I would vote it to remain illegal. There is little benefit making it more available. Its a dangerous drug (and I realize that there are just as dangerous legal drugs) and unless I can see a distinct benefit of marijuana, there is no use in legalizing it.
legalize it.
Here in Alaska the state law say so much is legal and I think it should be legal throughout. I have nothing bad to say about marijuana and I have been smoking it for over 30 years and have a very successful career behind me and have had people argue with me saying I am making it up when I say I smoke. People I worked for and with and spent time on a daily basis would argue with me over it telling me I was too professional to smoke. People used marijuana when they committ crimes as a way of getting lesser punishment. They blame the marijuana and people say the drug caused them to do it. BULL. We had a teen kill him stepmom, rape her dead body, put it in the freezer and blame it all on smoking marijuana and got a very light punishment because of the marijuana causing him to do it as he said and blamed the pot. Now years later it is found out that the teen has never smoked pot in his entire life. He lied about smoking pot. now they are trying to retrial him because of teh non smoking confession.
legal, they should tax the hell out of it too
Free the weed!
I think that is a slippery slope.
I do not want Heroin to eventually become legal, so I would have to vote no.
I don't want our jails/prisons filling up with bull crap pot charges, so I would have to vote yes.
I think, if 100% of the taxes gained from pot would be added IN ADDITION TO the current education budget, I would be more inclined to legalize it.
I think if the people who are sitting around like idiots staring/laughing at walls could help educate those who are interested in bettering themselves, I could jump on that bandwagon.
I agree that marijuana should be legalized. Herion, Cocaine, Meth...all of these drugs can cause IMMDEDIATE death as well as harmful side effects. WE SHOULD NEVER LEGALIZE SOMETHING THAT CAN CAUSE IMMEDIATE DEATH! Oh, wait, Alcohol can cause death....HMMMM????
Im not saying pot doesnt have some bad side effects, just not as bad/severe as those drugs. If we can keep alcohol legal (Alabama Driver Manual says: More people have died in alcohol related accidents/deaths that all of the soldiers killed in Vietnam/World Wars combined), then we should legalize pot. Im not saying let anyone get it, Im saying control it just like alcohol. If a minor gets caught with it, take them to jail. If you are caught driving under the influence, take them to jail.
Pot is not for everyone and it takes discipline to use on a regular basis. If a person is lazy and undependable when using pot, they probably shouldnt use it unless they have an "off" day and nothing planned. If you're job requires your undivided attention, DONT SMOKE IT BEFORE YOU GO TO WORK, IDIOT!! You are making the rest of us part time smokers look bad!!
Legal please?? for medical reasons? I gotta enough to worry about let alone going to jail.
Legalize it! I sign petitions all the time. I use marijuana for medical reasons and it's changed the quality of my life. I feel better, I spend less than half the money I spent on pharmaceuticals. If nothing else, they should at least open the door for medical marijuana in every state.
Legalization for sure. It will stop the Mexican drug cartels from bringing in crappy Marijuana. I don't see why it should be illegal when alcohol is legal. Alcohol causes more deaths in car accidents. Including innocent people like my Aunt that was hit by a drunk driver, and she died. You can overdose from alcohol and die that way. All of us taxpayers are paying taxes for marijuana charged inmates. There are more prisoners in prison from marijuana than most other crimes. Plus you can't die off of marijuana. If we legalize and tax it just like anything else. The United States would be SO wealthy. It would bring in a lot more money. Crime will drop.
You know Oboma said that it wouldn't be his choice to legalize it. I forget who would be able to legalize it. But Oboma doesn't care if it's legalized. And where I used to live in California, you can get your Medical Marijuana Card for really no reason at all. Just pay $70-$200 for your card. Each year you have to buy a new one, but the card is usable for 1 year. I used to have my Medical Card in California, but I moved to Texas where they don't have Medical Marijuana. Sucks. At the medical marijuana clubs such as CannaCare(real place too). You can buy anything from any edibles suck as lolipops, to butter, to Icecream(the icecream has THC and Hash in it), to any strain of marijuana you want. There are three types of the Marijuana family. There is Indica and Sativa. Generally Indicas tend to be shorter, stockier plants with smaller, denser and smellier buds. Indicas also flower much faster than Sativas, usually with a 6-9 week flowering period. Sativas will grow taller and generally much bigger. Buds will also be bigger but less dense. Sativa buds will also be less smelly and take longer to flower than Indicas, usually 9-10 weeks.
Choosing types of marijuana for a garden will depend on many factors, not least what you expect of the end product. Marijuana strains are often a cross of Sativa and Indica to give properties of each i.e. to make certain Sativa smaller and more potent, or an Indica larger and with bigger buds. As far as the high is concerned, Sativas will tend to produce more of a cerebral, energetic or giggly high, while Indicas produce more of a body stoned, known to enhance physical aspects such as sound and taste and can also have a relaxing effect. Indica for mind high, Sativa for body high.
Legalize it, reasonably tax it, sell it to 18 and over, and make sure that everything being sold isn't total crap.
To one of the commenters above:
Marijuana does not kill brain cells. Science has recently stated otherwise. THC slows down transmissions between neurotransmitters that cause the "Um... What was I gonna say", etc. In regular users.
If you stop toking, it will return eventually.
Make it legal, although I fear it might take away some of the mystique, it would certainly be a different experience. But it should be in the hands of the people, it's a medicine, a natural medicine, which I believe is here for a reason.
I would vote to legalize it because the only reason it is currently illegal is because the government can not tax it. Alcohol is a poison, kills many people, addicts people to it, and yet you can go buy it and can easily gain access to it even if you are not 21. Pot can't do any of those things (it can not physically addict you look it up).
honestly, it wouldnt matter.
whether the drug is legal or illegal, people will still continue to do it.
i would still want it illegal though. im not a fan of drugs.
good question +++ =)
legalize dat shit
Exactly.... People would just tax it... Whay do we need it leagalized? We have it already. Hahaha.... And the government thought they were so powerful.
Legalize, for sure.
Legalize pot!
Legalizing it would give the government more money and would keep kids from doing the other, much worse illegal drugs.
Of course it should be legal. Prohibition does not work. The whole "drug war" is a cruel and inhumane policy, does not control drugs, fills prisons with non-violent non criminals, and costs society huge amounts of money. Persons who actually have substance abuse problems need help. They are not helped by being turned into criminals by definition, by bad laws. After sixty years of drug war, you can buy more drugs illegally than ever before. The term "controlled substance" is an oxymoron. One of the simplest statements that describes the destructive futility of the prohibition policy is "Drug Laws Make Drug Lords". The US drug war policy is creating funding for terrorism in Afghanistan and a war in Mexico that has a far higher death toll than the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. Countries all over the world are suffering from the destructive effects of US prohibition policies.
Legalise no hesitation.
I dont smoke that much but I think justice has better things to do than arrest marijuana smokers...
If you want to win the war on drugs, legalize it under 5 grams. Then you can follow the users to their dealers and really bust the ones who are violent because of weed. Also, alcohol, which kills thousands of people each year due to drunk driving, is legal but marijuana, which kills hundreds each year due to illegal sales, is illegal? That makes perfect sense Uncle Sam. But the reason they make it illegal is because they cant regulate it's sale and distribution. That and they want to arrest blacks for possession. I just got out of jail for possession and did not see one person other than black who was arrested for posession.
I would vote to legalize it, then we could tax it and make the goverment the biggest dealer. Besides why not get control over it since we have lost the war on drugs anyway.
Make it legal.
Legalize it. We shouldn't be making criminals out of people over this.
Just get ready to pay taxes out the nose on it. And you may think it'll be nice to have a club to toke up at, but you'll pay pretty price for that privilege too.
One thing's for sure. The big bad government isn't about to just let you grow your own for free. If you think that's ever gonna happen, damn are you dreaming! Uncle Sam will get his cut even if he has to send IRS agents to rip the appliances from your home.
My lungs, my choice.
legalize that shit!!!! it is amazing!!
Lets legalize all drugs, so junkies will have no problem getting high, and so, if sb sells bad drug, junkies get overdose and die. Ambulance won't be able to rescue them all and so, junkies get instinct in a time.
legalize it
Legalize.
Legalize and tax the sale.
I'd go for legalization, but we are the minority.
I'd vote to legalize marijuana. The way I see it, this would get rid of the pushers out there.
legalize it!(:
im burning a blunt as i type.
Yea and Yes..needs no guess
legalise marijuana!!!
legalize it so teens and adults dont have to hide it and get in serious trouble when they get caught if god made then we can use it MAKE IT LEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As would anybody who enjoys the sweet smoke of cannabis, my first instinct would be to say "Legalize it!" However, after watching cigarette taxes steadily increase to the point of sheer ridiculosity (yeah, not a word, deal with it), once the government got their hands on marijuana I can see that tax also going through the roof. I mean, ok, so the government is the ONLY dealer which decreases the price. There's still a tax. I'd want to know prices and taxes before I voted either way. What would be the age minimum to buy it? Not because it's dangerous, but because one does have to have a certain level of responsibility if they want to smoke pot.
We just don't have enough information as citizens to make an educated decision.
Make it legal, but place warning labels on it showing it's side effects and what-not (just like everything else) and make sure that it gets taxed. Also, restrict it's sales to those who are 19 or older and enforce this strongly. Make driving under it's influence as big of a crime as alcohol, if not bigger.
Have no pot signs placed in restaurants and make it so that the only legal place to smoke it is in a private residence, to reduce high-driving.
Basically, I'd make it legal but I'd want it tightly regulated to insure the safety of the general public.
It would have to be first legalized for commercial purposes as in production of hemp products, seed oils, etc. See how that goes then slowly introduce it into main stream so everyone can do as they please with it, but do NOT allow kids to smoke it. The foolishness of charging mothers with child endangerment for smoking a joint in the car while kids are in the backseat it ridiculous. I don't and won't smoke it anymore, but have no qualms about others smoking it. I might eat it..
The laws profit only 4 main groups. Police, Jailers, Politicians and who else? Organized criminals because they have a basic monopoly. The monopoly needs broken.

Not a U.S. citizen so I'll keep it in the comments.
.
In addition to the tax benefits from the system you mention, I think legalising it would also keep novice users from getting emerssed in the drug sub culture where harder drugs may be available.
.
It would also make it easier to control strength and quality.
by spock's brain on November 13th, 2009
Heck Yeah! Legalize it. It helps people ease pain when the medication doesn't work, plus the money benefits of it.
by Stella on May 30th, 2011
Credit where credit is due - I am all for pot being legalised but look at the Netherlands, they are phasing it out. It doesn't work, we have built our society on the premise that the only legal drugs are tobacco and alcohol. Plus we are making more money with these drugs illegal than we ever would on tax on these drugs.
by Annon on June 24th, 2011
why even tax it??
by prisoner on August 8th, 2011
That question is answered in my last comment. They don't tax it (legalise it) because they make more money from the illegal trade than they ever would legalising and controlling it. And hello, Prisoner. I see you around a lot. We must have vaguely similar interests.
Um, all commodity is taxed by the way, with some exceptions.
by Annon on August 11th, 2011
It's not gone yet! And it's only one political party that is pushing for it... And the letter C in CDA refers to Christian. It's like they want life to be miserable for everybody.
by styxxoo1 on August 16th, 2011
um, Which political party is pushing for it??
There's only one Presidential Candidate who said he'd decriminalize it, end the drug war, and pardon all non-violent drug offenders. There's no good reason to believe he wouldn't, and there's a very strong posibility he could win the nomination.

Every post that supports marijuana has a massive amount of likes. Therefore, since the people have spoken and are in favor or cannabis, doesn't it seem a bit strange that it's STILL ILLEGAL??!
by Sethis on November 28th, 2011
Not really. It's medicinal properties are a threat to pharmaceutical companies. It's biodiesel properties are a threat to the oil company's. It's therapeutic properties are a threat to the psychopharmacology industry. Cloth -> textile industries. Enjoyment -> Alcohol and tobacco. etc.
America is rued by companies. Not strange at all.
by styxxoo1 on November 28th, 2011
What's strange is what Americans put up with,
by prisoner on November 28th, 2011
Agreed prisoner. But the fucked up thing is that they don't feel like they're putting up with it. They feel like the companies' decision is their OWN decision. Tragic.
by Sethis on November 29th, 2011
If you ask people around the world to describe the US, most will use the words 'Fat/Lazy/Stupid'. Around 90% of it's people are religious. Say's enough.
