At what age did you realise that hiccups were embarrassing?

They are? I just thought they were really uncomfortable. What is embarrassing about being uncomfortable? I guess I'm not old enough yet to be embarrassed by discomfort! :)

As a teenager I was a little embarrassed but now..........who cares.

When I was 21, I learned that they could be a problem in a barroom.

i dont find them embarrassing. i find mine hurtful. i get them at least once a day. they last forever and they hurt.

Whenever I have the hiccups I find it funny myself, maybe a little annoying at times but not embarrassing. However once I was waiting in a quiet waiting room, got the hiccups & people were giggling lmao.

When I was at the beach last summer. I was tanning all stretched out on the towel in a bikini and I got the hiccups. I had my mouth shut so they weren't loud or anything, but every time I hiccuped my stomach pushed up and a few people were staring. I tried laying on my belly but then my whole body bounced up and down so I just gave up and let everyone watch my belly pump up and down until they went away. That was pretty embarrassing let me tell you.
