I am both. I believe God created everything, including evolution.
-
I'm a Crealutionist. I think that the 6 day thing is an analogy of some sort. I think God created everything and then directed each type of life form, but I do not believe in cross species evolution.
-
I am an Evolutionist but I am also a Believer, you cannot believe every fact blindly, everyone must question some things in their religion and there is much of the liturgy and laws of my Church that I cannot agree with. It is still the Church of which I choose to remain a member.
-
I believe that a Creator intelligently designed everything.
-
Evolutionist, it is just my opinion, and i have views that some people might not like, but i keep them to myself, and there is your answer.
-
Im an evolutionist. I am also an atheist. However I do not think that evolution proves God does not exist. Evolution and God can co-exist. You can say that it was all part of Gods plan.... I dont belvie for other reasons. But to be fair to the Bible - if you drop the idea of the world being created in 6 days - then the order of the creation is correct....

There is a false dilemma here. "Creationists" normally take the Bible as we read it "literally" which is NOT what the original story intended and is thus not the intended meaning. God's Truth in Nature/Science cannot contradict itself- thus the Scientist has to find out exactly what she/he can prove, and the Bible believer cannot contradict that with "proof" from looking for Science in a "Theology" text but seek the religious lesson. Thus I agree with the posts which say the authors are both Creationists and Evolutionists.
-
More of an evolutionist - here is why. THings change - and if you can guess right about the next change you will probally win. This goes for stock market, corporate culture, even popular religion and literature etc. Creationism doesn't benefit me - because if there is a God - he mad it so that things change.

The problem with this "debate" is that Creationism and the Theory of Evolution are not opposing as they are often regarded. It's apples to oranges, Evolution is a scientific theory that has a good deal of data to support it. When people say "it's just a theory" well all scientific knowledge is a theory. Gravity is just a theory, but the evidence so far all suggests it's true. Creationism is a theistic belief. It never says anything for or against evolution or the process that new species come about. If you take the scriptures literally, and interpret certain things how you like then there becomes a problem. I can see proof of evolution, but that doesn't mean that God didn't create things that way. Give me some Drosophilla (fruit flies) and a few years and I'll give you a new subspecies. That doesn't make me God, that just shows I have found one of the ways this God person has made the universe. In the end, if you take that literal view of your theology, then you are allied with the "Evolutionists" as they are looking for Truth in God's world. I'm an Atheist of sorts, but I see science as understanding more of the world brings me closer to God.
-
I believe that a God created everything, including the process of evolution, as a architect would design a building. However, I am more concerned with the present and the future than how we were created in the past.
-
Evolutionist. There is much scientific evidence that humans evolved, including DNA testing, fossils etc. There is no evidence that God created the universe including humans. There isn't even evidence that there is a God. So this makes the choice for me easy- I go with the available evidence.
-
I'm a proud evolutionist. Creationsism seems... foolish to me.
-
Well if "god" is omniscient, and I mean truly, and everything is created by him/her/it, then it follows that everything is part of god in one form or another. I guess I could go on about this a lot more, but that's for another thread I guess :)

I am a scientist, specifically a biologist. Evolution is the unifying glue that holds Biology together into one field of study. Dobzanski, a great biologist, stated it very well - "Nothing in Biology makes sense except in the light of Evolution"
-
I'm going to go call myself an "evolutionist" but I think pragmatist would be the better term.

Evolution is man’s way of denying God’s part in the initial creation of all of the myriad forms of life on earth, as a collection of fortunate molecular accidents. So fortunate that from one basic life form many others evolved. I guess that a Platypus does resemble a beaver stuck on a duck. But I don’t know which way it is evolving. So I don’t buy it. More incredible, Creationism states that God started everything from nothing, beginning with no molecules God made the stars including our sun, the planets including our planet placed so conveniently orbiting at a distance from a stable star as to provide adequate sunlight on the water and land that we take for granted. And set our planet spinning thus providing cyclical heating and cooling of a gaseous atmosphere containing the right combination of oxygen and nitrogen essential for life, thereby causing the winds and weather which transport water vapor from oceans to land to support life on the land. Oh, and tilting the axis of the planet just enough to create seasonal weather patterns which again make life possible. Not to mention the benefits of having a liquid core which creates the magnetosphere that shields us from deadly solar winds. I understand that the moon also adds certain benefits to life on earth other than romantic reflected light at night. I'm sure that I've missed something, Who said, “the more I know about my surroundings, the more it sounds like a creation”. Just doesn’t sound like an accident does it.
-
i guess i'm both. i think a higher power started it all.
-
Most would say that I am an evolutionist, I do not believe that creation theoology can accurately fathom or translate the creation of the universe.
-
Definitely both are correct. Evolution perfectly describes the process and ways of the physical, chemical, scientific, biological, material world, There is absoutely no doubt that this is true as we can see it in action every minute of our lives. Even Pope John Paul II confirmed his belief that "Evolution is Compatible with Christian faith"!! He also stated .."If taken literally, the Biblical view of the beginning of life and Darwin's scientific view would seem irreconcilable. In Genesis, the creation of the world, and Adam, the first human, took six days. Evolution's process of genetic mutation and natural selection-the survival and proliferation of the fittest new species-has taken billions of years, according to scientists ..." "The Pope's message went much further in accepting the theory of evolution as a valid explanation of the development of life on Earth, with one major exception: the human soul. 'If the human body has its origin in living material which preexists it, the spiritual soul is immediately created by God', the Pope said." Creation perfectly describes our spiritual, mental, inner growth... our soul. The Bible and all other sacred texts are written in metaphor, symbol, parable and poetic language which is meant to be understood on a far deeper level than the literal understanding. The problems in our culture and some churches come when people try to either meld the two or try to prove one over the other. This can never be done - they each explain their own particular and special growth.
-
Evolutionist. But this position doesn´t exclude the participation of a supreme bieng, i.e. God to create the basic elements which initiated the evolution.
-
Can I be both? because I am, in a way.
-
Evolutionist, having studied it in school, it seems more than logical.
-
Both. I believe in evolution, but I don't believe it randomly occurred. I believe in creationism, but not in the typical sense.
-
Evolutionist. To be a creationist, you have to drop the whole scientific method - one, as creationists claim, just a bit of biology. Which would totally disrupt my entire world picture. I would be unable to trust a light switch or an airplane because I would no longer feel that I knew how they worked.
-
An evolutionist with the singular exception that most evidence indicates that man (or woman?) created their deity through their respective religion and not the other way around. ;)
-
evolutionist----smile and enjoy the day
-
Evolution seems to be the most logical theory right now. We'll never really know though, I personally don't claim to have all the answers. (No I'm not a crazy fundie or a neocon, I'm an independent atheist)
-
U too! Me too! (:
-
Evolutionist... It makes more sense.
-
I'm of the opinion that all the necessary elements were in place at the right moment. If either the theory of evolution or an old Earth were to be proven incorrect, then our understanding of many different sciences would collapse. God or other deities are assumed to have played no part in the processes. Origins and change in the universe, including the evolution of life species on Earth, were driven by purely natural forces.

I like to create things, because I like to play, explore, and learn about stuff. I am actually playing God each time I build something. With His blessings, of course. So personally, I am a Creationist. Don't you like to create things too? You are part of God. God is everywhere, in everything, and that includes in you. God and you are continually creating new things every day. 1) When you leave things alone, they Evolve over time by themselves. 2) When you interfere with them, you are Creating something. Seeing how most things on Earth have been meddled with by human beings, they have been created, manufactured, mined, shaped, and harvested ... I'd have to say that Man has created the world as it is today. We even create global warming now, new DNA life forms from scratch, the removal of mountains, the extinction of hundreds of species, and vast dead zones in the ocean. Since Man is in God's image, by proxy then, God has created today's world through Man. So to be accurate, I am equally Creationist and Evolutionist, but must admit that Man is rapidly overtaking natural evolution, so our God-like Creationist tendencies are starting to win! God, I hope we can survive the wrath of our own Creations, because evolution is falling by the wayside.

evolutionist and Creationist! God created Evolution so people have to actually believe in god rather than it being a fact ! you can be both
-
Evolutionist, of course! What else could I be, since I do not live in the South or Midwest United States? :)
-
Before something can evolve, it needs to be created.
-
Both, I hate to say it because as a Christian I am supposed to tow the "creation dogma" line. I think it was set up by God and put into action by Him, then He directed it as time went on. I must say however that I do NOT believe we came from slime out of the primordial ooze. I think we were introduced by God when the time was right. This makes the most sense to me.
-
Evolution hard all you need to do is look at any living or fossil to see were we come from i.e eyes ears mouth limbs back bone cns etc creastionists just gota problem with comprehending the fact that time is vast and we are just another animal of earth.
-
Neither, I'm a Christian and disciple of Christ who believes in the Genesis account of the origin of the universe.
