Merck Pharmaceuticals is paying for efforts to pass laws in several states that would require the HPV vaccine Gardisal for girls as young as 11 or 12. Texas is the first state to do so. Would you want this law to be passed in your state?

Absolutely not ---the pharmaceuticals are way out of line to force their products on everyone. This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of forcing children and adolescents to take pharmaceuticals. The have a program in many states to do this with drugs for mood disorders etc.I don't like it.

Four types of Cervical Cancer are prevented by Gardasil, not treated. It must be administered before the individual contracts the HPV virus, which means before sexual activity. The best window of opportunity is before girls are sexually active therefore 11 or 12. I did not enjoy the Polio vaccine either, but I'm glad the vaccine was given to me. I surmise that the legal approach is Merck’s way of increasing their volume of product to reduce the cost of producing Gardasil. If anyone knows how much the cost will be reduced, please add a comment. PS, I do not know of any insurance companies who have made Gardasil an approved medication. Call your insurance company and ask if they will pay anything and why not? You may get a nice song and dance. So I would recommend the vaccine.

If they could prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, that it would be life saving, then yes, I could go for it, but if someone could only prove that it is a greedy money based reason, to make it mandatory, then no, I would fight it!
