  • That seriously depends on what you're doing with the computer. But if you were actively using it, 2-3 hours at the most.
  • How many amp-hours is the battery? How good is the battery? Age and improper care/handling can lessen how well it holds a charge. How bright do you have your screen's backlight? Are you doing tasks that are hard-drive intensive? (Running WinXP with less than 1GB RAM counts due to the way virtual memory works) Are you using the speakers or not? Are you using an optical drive, like to play a DVD? What sort of CPU are you running? Does it throttle down under light load to conserve energy? Are you using wifi? Do you have any USB peripherals plugged in? If so, how much juice do they draw? There are SO many variables that a straight answer is impossible. What I CAN tell you is that my month-old Aspire One with the mouse disconnected, sound off, wifi on, and surfing the net drains it's 3-cell battery in about 2:45 while turning off the wireless adds another half-hour to that, and 6-cell AA1s last twice as long. It's also worth noting that netbooks typically have longer battery life than laptops.
