Any place with a big American Flag flying. I look at it, no matter where it is or where I am, and it just takes my breath away that I am an American....and all that is going on and all that has gone on so that it can fly.

Iraq. Seeing what the spreading of democracy has done to millions of innocent people and their country made me feel warm and fuzzy all over not to mention proud and patriotic

My civilian police academy. Training to be a cop made me feel very patriotic, considering I terribly dislike America.

The White House. Washington, DC. I live 30 minutes away. Here's a picture i took of the Washington Monument standing at the capital building.

Krome Detention Center where my father was incarcerated when he first came to this country from Cuba. It made me thankful that I was born in a free land.

A foreign country. I've been around a lot of the world. People here drape themselves in the flag and have no idea what it means. Go to France and listen to them talk about America. Or go to Mexico, Japan, or even Canada. Now, this was before W, mind, but they all admired the US. THAT'S where you realize it. Not here, where buffoons can fly a flag.

I visited San Juan last year on a cruise and was surprised at the facial expressions and reactions I received from the locals. The local vendors would ask the customers where they were from...if they said USA, their response was a straight face. The people who said Canada were treated like royalty!! It made me realize that I love my country for all the right reasons.

The statue of liberty and Ellis Island. The inscription at the base of Lady Liberty brought tears to my eyes.

A ceremony at a local VFW Hall. To listen to the stories from the men and women about the sacrifices they made meant more to me than any symbol ever could. It is after all about the people and those people are true heroes.

Gettyburg. I got goosebumps! :)

Camp LeJeun....the day my son came back from his first tour in Iraq. When the buses came rolling in with all those young men just getting back....well, all I can say is it was very heart touching seeing them get off and most of their families there waiting to greet them.

Gettysburg was quite inspirational. I have visited several Civil War battlefields and you can just feel...something.
