  • I did, and it was pretty neat, but if I had understood the privelege I was having, I would have done more to preserve the memory.
  • I was only about 7 years old or so. I don't remember much about it.
  • Yes, I remember seeing it. I don't remember being particularly impressed, but I was 6 years old! I also remember people telling me that it wouldn't be visible again in my lifetime ... but I think they meant *their* lifetimes (as they were adults, and I was only 6). I plan on living past age 82, so I think I'll be around to see it again.
  • I saw it, but it wasn't as bright and impressive as I had hoped. But it was history, so I was glad to have seen it.
  • Some friends of mine and I drove hours to see it through a huge telescope. Good thing because, even through that, it was very small.
  • I too remember the last passage of Halley. I remember our family going up into the mountains to look for it. There really was not much to see that time. I was very disappointed by it. (BTW, it is Halley, not Haley.) There is another comet passing through the inner solar system right now (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/apod/apod_search?Comet+McNaught). It's supposed to be quite spectacular. Unfortunately, I never thought to look for it at the right time when it was visible here in the northern hemisphere. So, once again, I have to settle for looking at other people's pictures.
  • I was 25 when I was Halley's Comet. I thought it was a pretty cool site. I really didn't realize that I probably would never see it again. But if I live to be 101, I will see it again. I also was privildged to see Comet Kohutek back in 1973 when I was just 13 years old. It is expected to return in 76,000 years, so this was a very special privilage to see that one.
  • I saw it and was quite disappointed with its appearrance after looking forward to seeing it for so long, but at least I saw it. Hale Bopp in 1997 was much more impressive to my mind (if you saw that).
  • No. I saw Halley's comet but not Haley's. I was 53 years old that year, and I remember thinking, "Not much chance of seeing it return in 75 years." But I'm working on it. If I can make it that long, I'll be 128; so I don't expect I'll be able to see much of anything. . Like the others, I wasn't impressed with the sight. Just a little smudge of light that merely sat in the sky.
  • When will it come again? I was only a newborn or not even born the last time!!
  • I saw it, it was unremarkable.
  • I was disappointed after reading of past viewings.
