This is really a question about how to deal with units. You're given a couple of ratios: Ratio (1): 45 lbs / ft^3 Ratio (2): 6 lbs / gal You want to use this information to determine gal / ft^3, so you want to eliminate the "lbs" unit. Ratios work both ways: if you have 6 lbs per gallon, then you have 1 gallon per 6 lbs. So, invert one of the fractions and multiply them; that way you get rid of the "lbs" unit altogether. (45 lbs)/(ft^3) * (gal)/(6 lbs) = (45 gal)/(6 ft^3) Think you can take it from there?
