Very Carefully. Finely spray a very mild cleaner on to a lint-free cloth ('NOT' ON TO THE iPOD UNIT) until it is very slightly damp. (NOT WET!) Softly rub the soiled area with the cloth. Wipe as little as possible, until iPOD is clean.

There is this stuff, called iKlear you can get at frys or where ever, $10 for 10 packs, and you can clean your LCD moniters and iPods and everything else that needs to be and can't use a regular rag on.
