Roughly how many points will my husband's credit score go up if I pay off his only credit card ($500 balance)? We're trying desperately to bump up his credit score quickly..

    Pay the account down to 35% of what his high balance is. Which means if his credit card limit is $500, leave $175 on the card.

    Or, pay it off and use it once a month for a small purchase or dinner and then pay it off and repeat this cycle.

    If you pay it off completely and do not use it, you will not have this card to report in your favor.
