  • For me it would be the anticipation of it. I handle pain well, but the part of waiting for it to happen is a little tense.
  • I think for most bad situations the anticipation is alwasy worse than what actually happens...Most times.
  • Depends on the pain.ie. Having an injection in your bum = anticipation. Having your leg severed in some freak accident = pain itself.
  • The anticipation. I remember going to get my first tattoo and almost pissing my pants. But once we started going I was like "Oh, that's it?" lol
  • I think its the anticipation thats worse for me. like when i have a blood test, i get all worried about it, absolutely hate the idea of it, and then i dont notcie the actual pain cos im making so much fuss with the anticipation! hope that makes sense lol.
  • Unanticipated pain is much worse. When anticipating pain you are only dealing with fear, which you can at least try to rationalise as a natural adrenal response. In the actual pain after anticipating it you may have had time to prepare and relax and try to control it with breathing, medication, self talk, etc. But with unanticipated pain all you have are your nerves screaming out against all sensibility, and the fear is much more intense and horrific because you were not prepared. Not fun at all.
