  • I usually eat it before it is time to throw it away.
  • im with anddeb, it never last long enough to throw away. it gets eaten pretty fast at my house.
  • My wife buys celery and other produce fresh from a local farm, so the celery we eat usually lasts for about a week or two before it goes flaccid.
  • It's hard to throw it away because I avoid buying it in the first place.
  • You don't have to throw it away. Wash it thoroughly, trim it nicely, and place the stalks in a large plastic container with lid and fill it to the top with water. It will last many days that way. As a last resort I have simply used it up in soups or stir fry. Well before it gets old it makes a great vehicle for dips..or cream cheese with nuts (walnuts are very good) or peanut butter. I always add it to salads. I never throw celery away..only the unusable parts that I discard after washing! :)
