Matters relating to Banking are always shrouded in secrecy. Reasonable - we should think. Its only when a Bank collapses that we get an inkling of what is really going on. Noone really tells us.

The back when answer , FDR took the $ off the gold standard, so that the US could manage its international trade without having to ship real gold all over. Domestically there needed to be a “freeing up” of the $ so that more paper could go into circulation, the Federal Reserve was formed. What no one at the time knew was that foreign Banks ran the Fed. Now we have a dollar that floats on the demand for it. Nothing backing the dollar, not gold, not silver, just the promise of the US government to “back” it, what ever that is supposed to mean.

The right now answer, for ten years or more the banks were forced by the government to make loans available that were very high risk. 110% mortgages for example. The government promised to cover these loans. The banks were permitted to count these loans as assets in order to get more loans from the fed. A Cali Bank, Indi Mac, failed to meet it’s interest payment to the Fed, news leaked and there was a run a the bank, the Fed stepped in but the run went international with a call to pay over 4 trillion dollars. The Fed shut down the system, just 15 minutes before a total, global financial collapse. Now the world expects the US Government to stand, as we promised, behind the world economy, and prop it up. It will cost trillions for years to fix this, IF it can be fixed. VP Joe Biden said the plain has a better than 30% chance of not working, then what? Four countries have had total monetary collapse in the last 3 months, Mexico could be next.

We have been told what they want you to hear...Do you understand "fractional banking" and "fiat" money? Do you understand and know who and what the Federal Reserve is? Do you know who the 12 world wide banking cartels are and what they do and control? Of course not - they keep it locked up and only the select very few ever know. I don't know what my bank does - do you?
