It's very difficult to have a mixed collection of birds happily, and usually something suffers or several pairs do, won't breed, or will just be too nervous or even get hurt. And often it really comes down to the individual temperaments of each bird and not just the species or breed. Some cockatiels will live happily with grass parakeets and large finches, some will attack them. Even some finches will not live happy together if there are too many of them, and if they start breeding, it's easy to get too many quickly! There are a few books out there that go into great details about what birds might be housed with which species. I suggest you check your library for one and read up on it. Talk to a local breeder to get their input. For a rough idea of what some of the birds are like, here is an informative page about housing a mixed collection and what size you may need. http://www.finchsociety.org/cfa/mix/mix.htm
