Call the great grandmother Janet, the sister Alice, "Another Person" Anette and assuume you are the great grandson. Put one generation per line, child under parent: Janet & Alice = siblings Jane & Alphones = first cousins John & Annette = second cousins Jackpipe & Alissa = 3rd cousins You are second cousin once removed to "Annette" through your father, "John". When (if) she has children, they will be your third cousins. You are not the same generation. She is in your father "John"'s generation, That one generation difference is why she is once removed to you. Your children will be her second cousins twice removed, through their grandfather "John". Copy this off to notepad and change the names, if you want to explain it to someone.
