Be someone worthy of being honored. Lead by example.
-
by being an honorable parent..respect and honor are earned and children emulate what they see. Just giving birth to a child does not warrant they honor you, you have an obligation as a parent to raise them and care for them and bring them up to be respectful, honorable, people.
-
Talk to them about the value of respect. Don't accept rude behaviour as OK.
-
Dont spoil them too much, dont give them everything they want all the time or they become unbearable and they definitely wont respect u either.
-
teach them good morals and how to respect and they will love you and love brings honor.
-
by acting honorable. A lot of parents still believe in the "seen and not heard" adage which doesn't work. Kids need to be respected (as human beings) in order to respect others. Treat a kid like he's smart and he will do the same. Treat a kid like he's stupid, well, that's what you'll get. So what does honor mean to you; does it mean respect, politeness or do you want him to idolize you? Then do the same and he will imitate.
-
Be honourable.
-
by example
-
By teaching why it's important. Talk about the effects of being honoring and being dishonoring...the good side as well as the consequences. And honor them, they're people too and deserve respect.
-
Be worthy of that honor. I promised both my children i would never lie to them and have kept that promise. The truth does not always paint me in the most positive light, but my kids trust me 100% because they know I don't sugarcoat anything about anything, including myself. There's none of that "do as I say and not as I do" bullshit.
