Matt's contract dictates how much he makes per race. Drivers generally have a base salary and then get a percentage of prize money. The rest of the prize money goes back to the organization. Drivers also make money from personal endorsements and a percentage of merchandise sales. Being a former champion, Matt's contract probably gives him a higher base salary and higher percentage of winnings than say David Ragan or Jamie McMurray.

i think the driver gets 40% of the winnings i think daytona was one million so matt kenseth got $400,000 that's what i heard they keep these things confidential because it is none of our business
