I don't know about metal..but all the good rock bands are coming right out of our own home town. Single File, 3Oh3, The Flobots. Also, I Hate Kate (Half of them are from here, the other half from California)

Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Metallica and Black Sabbath are all good for those just crossing over from rock to full-on metal. If you're a little more experienced with the genre, though, I'd reccomend something a little more interesting, such as: Acid Bath Mayhem Paul Chain The Black Dahlia Murder Or, if you're more rock-oriented and don't mind vocals in Japanese, Boris.
