You have a carving of Saci, one of the most popular Brazilian characters in folklore. He is a prankster-type who is blamed for missing toys and scattered cattle or sour milk. He has similar counter-parts in most other cultures. He has a red hat, one leg, and likes to smoke a pipe.

In most parts of Brazil he is considered harmless, but he does have the reputation of being a blood sucker in others. If you catch him and steel his hat, he will grant you a wish.
