How come Saint Pierre and Miquelon is rarely labeled on maps of Canada or North America? This whole time there was a nation right beside Canada that I had never even heard of!

In the first place, the islands aren't a nation. They are an overseas territory of France. They usually are on a decent map and labeled "(Fr.)". A lesser quality map would skip them because they are so small, only about 10 sq. miles. -
