YEAH! think, if the cure was not an 80's band and they just came out NOW, they would def be considered emo same with anything 'new wave'. In my opinion emo is the NEW "new wave"

ummm no i dont think u can. I dont get whats with all this emo music stuff. "emo" isnt a genre, its just people expressing their emotions through their music. it isnt emo. And 80's music is nothing like that, 80's was either grunge or pop music... and grunge isnt emo
