  • Well, the idea of the wall being erected and border crossings regulated is doing just the same thing now. Previously Israel did use land as a buffer zone with southern Lebanon by propping up the anti Hezbollah factions in the area. None of this has worked. Hamas or Hezbollah simply fire rockets over the fence or buffer zone. The same happened when the UN stood in no man's land between them and actually got some UN peace keepers killed. Until those groups recognize Israel's right to exist and stop trying to kill every Israeli ( which is in their group's stated aims) nothing will work short of finding every combatant and removing them from the game. Then there's always going to be revenge killing, so it's still a never ending thing.
  • Both governments would need to cease fighting and a world body would need to enforce the DMZ.A clear border that is agreeable and fair for each nation would need to be established. This would again need to be decided upon by a world body that is not partial to either country.Maybe peace would have at least a slight chance. It is clear that to allow these countries to continue what they are doing is not a good idea, and other countries need to step in.
