  • If both parties both speak English, then it bothers me for them to carry on a conversation in another language ( in my case, Spanish). However, if one person's English is extremely limited, I can understand it and it doesn't bother me.
  • Yes, it makes me think they're talking about me.
  • It depends on the setting. When in a place of business in my country, then the language should be English, unless it is required to speak another in the course of the job. If the interaction is with ME as the customer, then the language should be English. Now, having said that, it is not entirely without reason that the person conducting this business with me might need to switch to another language as a matter of course. For all other interactions, the matter is generally governed by the situation at hand on what is reasonable. But to just speak English around me because that is my native language in my country? No. Unreasonable and rude. I find this a rather interesting question. There was a time in this country (America) when having an education in a secondary language was a requirement to enter nearly any college. Many colleges no longer require this. Very ego-centric.
  • No, it doesn't bother me at all. I can tell by their expressions and vernacular the basic gist of everything their saying anyway. +5
