My dictionary defines "hair" and "fur" so closely that it's hard to tell the difference. A possiblity exception might be that hair is individual and or an aggrigate where is fur is a covering.
-
My figuring on this one is that fur is made up of hairs. If it's still on the hide, it's fur. Once it's off the hide, it's hair(s).

Why do we drive on parkways and park in driveways? It's a matter of preferred terminology.

Fur, hair, it doesn't make a bit of difference what they cough up. It is up to you to choose which term you want to use to define it.
