  • Not if the process is repeated. However if indeed Ipod is left in cold car then allow it to warm up before starting it. Cold= more drain on the battery. You dont want to keep on recharging your ipod repeatedly.
  • No, not really. The battery has a lower voltage while it is very cold, but that should recover as soon as the ipod has warmed up. There is a faint chance for condensing humidity on the boards inside, but the ipod housing is actually quite hermetic. Curiously, there are tips on the ipod boards that certain hard disk failures can be dealt with by placing the ipod in the fridge: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=2006110111270170 http://digg.com/hardware/Freeze_your_hard_drive_to_recover_data:_Myth_or_Reality_
  • Extreme cold may cause malfunctioning as it heats back up. Warm it up slowly to reduce condensation formation inside. ie move from cold car to the garage for a few hours, then into a cool room, then back up to room temp. Try not to let it into extreme temps. If it is a larger iPod it will have moving parts inside that may be adversely affected as those are small disc-type drives. The smaller flash ones should be able to take more extremes.
  • I have left my iPod in my car overnight in below-freezing conditions, and it is fine. I have a Nano.
