No it isn't because it is not true. Everyone who writes poetry also reads it, so there has to be AT LEAST as many people who read poetry as those who write it.

No. Poetry is an expression. Not every expression needs to be or even should be read. I like good poetry, but I think probably 1 in 15 poems are passable and maybe about 1 in 50 are decent and fewer than that are actually good. You might say I'm a poetry pessimist.

I think lots do read it, they just don't all own up to reading it.
