Maybe because his salary is lower than the $500K cap he is enforcing on these CEOs?

The Presidents salary id defined by law and a matter of public record: about $470,000 at the moment. There are no bonuses. There are obviously some perks, but they are well supervised and generally required by the job (e.g. a private jet, for the security and communications a president needs; boar and lodging in the White House etc.) Considering the responsibilities of the post and the amount of work done, the salary does not seem at all high to me. Particularly, it seems to me that the CEO of the US does a job more important than the CEO of any corporation. So it is not unreasonable that corporate CEOs should accept a salary of the same order.
