Engine power reduced. This message is now displayed on the instrument panel before starting engine on a 2008 Chevy Malibu after being in a front end collision. The car continued to run for a few minutes. Does this mean the engine is damaged internally

    When the engine power reduced light is on it is telling you that there is soming wrong as a sensor or connector. In your case if some wiring got pinched in the collision that may also turn on your light. It does not mean that there is any internal engine damage. I would look for a pinched wire on the side of the collision.
